One of my favourite book series is the Enemy by Charlie Higson. While this isn’t exactly a fresh take on an apocalyptic world, it certainly is a fresh take on a ragtag group of preteens all trying to survive in a world where the ones meant to care for them have been turned into zombies.
What I appreciated about Higson’s books is that he brought something unique to zombie lore; his own twist. While the zombies appear to be what we know - they are slightly different than what you are accustomed to reading.
And he’s a cool author, as seen in the video above.
